Wire

I like to think of using wire as if I were drawing in three dimensions, it offers great freedom in early stages of a piece in that I can constantly change the posture and attitude of the sculpture. I use many kinds of wire from rusting binding wire, re-cycled copper wire, galvanised steel wire to enamel coated wire and wire netting.

I will often add other metals such as lead or brass shim to give extra form and these can be coloured with glass paint for added effect. I also use resins coated directly onto the wire to add texture and depth. Many of the wire pieces are suitable to go outdoors.
